Pupils get the chance to sit in a truck and are made aware of its blind spots, what the driver can and cannot see from the mirrors, how to cross the road safely, and how to be safe whilst on the road.<\/p>\n

As well as enjoying the chance to sit in the truck and beep the horn, pupils gain a very practical understanding the size of the vehicle and how loud it is, where the blind sports are, and what they must do to stay safe on the road.<\/p>\n

Commenting on a visit to Tingwall Primary School, teacher of P2 to P4, Karen Saunders, said:<\/p>\n

\u201cI think this is especially pertinent at the moment with all the construction that is happening on the islands. The pupils took away an important message from the session, as well as some lovely gifts of high vis goodies and an activity book. All the bairns had a great time exploring the truck. Northwards may have recruited a few future truck drivers!\u201d<\/p>\n
