The store had closed because of its lack of goods, but a special Northwards convoy fought the difficult weather conditions and the delivery has enabled Tesco to restock its empty shelves.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-2478\" src=\"http:\/\/1095994008.test.prositehosting.co.uk\/Northw_demo\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Northwards-300x235.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"313\" srcset=\"http:\/\/1095994008.test.prositehosting.co.uk\/Northw_demo\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Northwards-300x235.jpg 300w, http:\/\/1095994008.test.prositehosting.co.uk\/Northw_demo\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Northwards-1024x800.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/1095994008.test.prositehosting.co.uk\/Northw_demo\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Northwards-768x600.jpg 768w, http:\/\/1095994008.test.prositehosting.co.uk\/Northw_demo\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Northwards.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/>The road conditions across the isles meant that the trailers, transported north from Gills Bay to St Margaret\u2019s Hope by Pentland Ferries, could not be moved until the roads were clear.<\/p>\n<p>The Northwards convoy was able to get through when the Kirkwall to St Margaret\u2019s Hope road was cleared by Orkney Islands Council\u2019s Roads Department. The Northwards team then used their own loadall to clear the way from the village to the pier.<\/p>\n<p>Manager of Tesco\u2019s Kirkwall store, Matthew Johnstone, said: <em>\u201cWe are really grateful to Northwards, who have gone above and beyond on our behalf.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWith shelves almost empty, the store was forced to close, so our thanks go to Northwards, who have succeeded in getting goods here for our customers and allowed us to reopen.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Manager of Northwards depot, Chris Craigie, said:<em> \u201cConditions across the islands have been particularly challenging this week and it has been impossible in some circumstances to keep deliveries moving.
